Day 1: HEXAGON – DOUALA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
Welcome and transfer to hotel, dinner and overnight
Day 2: DOUALA-BUEA-LIMBE-DOUALA
Breakfast and excursion to the Mount Cameroon region; visit Buea, the former capital of Cameroon during colonial rule. Continue to visit the CDC tea plantations at Tole. Drive to Limbe to visit the lava flow site resulting from the March 1999 Mount Cameroon eruption.
Lunch of grilled fished at down and continue to visit the Bimbia Slave trade. Return to Douala, dinner and overnight at hotel
Day 3: Douala-Maroua
Breakfast and on-board a Camair-co flight for Maroua. Reception by our local guide and transfer to hotel. Lunch, free relaxation, dinner and overnight.
Day 4: MAROUA-WAZA NATIONAL PARK
Breakfast and drive to the Waza National Park. Whole day safari in the park. This park has a surface area of 1,700 square kilometres and it is the best and most visited national park in Cameroon. Here, we can find wildlife such as giraffe, elephants, antelopes, lions, monkeys, etc. Bird watchers could view eagle, hornbill, pelican, duck, goose, heron, marabou, guinea-fowl and many other rare species. Picnic in the park. Dinner and overnight at the Waza lodge.
Day 5: WAZA – OUDJILLA – MOKOLO-RHUMSIKI
Drive after breakfast to Oudjilla to see the Podoko people on a hill top village. Here, the round thatched mud houses are a distinctive feature. Visit the Oudjilla chief’s palace with his over 50 wives and hundreds of children. Continue drive via the Koza hills and Mokolo to Rhumsiki in the Mandara mountains. Dinner and overnight at the Rhumsiki lodge.
Day 6: RHUMSIKI – TOUROU – MAROUA
Drive to Tourou. If we happened to come there on a Thursday, we shall visit the Thursday local market. Tourou is a village situated on the border of Cameroon and Nigeria. The market is very picturesque with local women wearing carved calabashes on their heads which look like army helmets. They are of various designs and can indicate the marital status of the women. Continue drive to Maroua and overnight at a hotel.
Day 7: MAROUA – DOUALA
After breakfast, visit the craft market and other attractions in Maroua. Lunch and transfer to the Maroua Salak Airport for flight to Douala. Transfer to hotel, dinner and overnight.
Day 8: DOUALA – HEXAGONE
Breakfast and free day at leisure to do some shopping in the city of Douala. Lunch and trip evaluation. Transfer to airport and end of trip.
