Day 1: Hexagon – Yaoundé-Nsimalen international airport
Welcome and transfer to Hotel. Dinner and overnight.
Day 2: YAOUNDE-MAROUA
Fly to Maroua by 8:00am. Reception at the airport by our local guide and transfer to Hotel de la Porte Mayo. City tour Maroua and overnight.
Day 3: MAROUA-WAZA NATIONAL PARK
Transfer to the Waza National Park (122 km), the well-known and most visited national park in Cameroon and overnight at the Waza lodge.
Day 4: WAZA NATIONAL PARK
Second full day safari in the Waza National Park and then overnight
Day 5: WAZA – OUDJILLA – MAROUA
Drive after breakfast to Oudjilla, to visit the Podoko hill top village. Here, the round thatched mud houses are a distinctive feature. Visit the Oudjilla chief’s palace with his over 50 wives and hundreds of children. Return to Maroua and visit the local market and particularly the art market. Overnight at Hotel de la Porte Mayo
Day 6: MAROUA – TOUROU – RHUMSIKI
Drive to the Thursday local market of Tourou via Mokolo. Tourou is at the border between Cameroon and Nigeria. The market is very picturesque with local women wearing carved calabashes on their heads which look like army helmets. They are of various designs and can indicate the marital status of the women. Continue drive to Rhumsiki in the Mandara mountains. Overnight at the Rhumsiki lodge.
Day 7: RHUMSIKI-MAROUA
Morning visit of Rhumsiki village and then discover the crab fortune teller. After lunch, drive through Mokolo to Maroua. Overnight at Hotel de la Porte Mayo
Day 8: MAROUA – MAGA – POUSS – MAROUA
Drive to Maga, a picturesque village with domed homes made of clay. Visit the Pouss market. Pouss is found north east of Maga. Also visit the local fishermen at work on the Maga lake. Continue drive to Maroua and overnight.
Day 9: MAROUA-YAOUNDE
Fly to Yaoundé, arrival and transfer to hotel. Yaounde city tour of Yaoundé by night.
Day 10: YAOUNDE – BAFOUSSAM – KOUTABA
Drive to the West Region of Cameroon to visit the biggest and best chiefdoms. Our first stop is at Bandjoun, one of the biggest chiefdoms of the Bamileke country. Here you visit the palace’s museum and the round house before driving to Koutaba through Bafoussam, the capital city of the West Region. Koutaba is a small locality situated some 15km from Foumban. Dinner and overnight at hotel.
Day 11: KOUTABA – FOUMBAN – BAMENDA
Early morning depature to Foumban (15km), visit the the sultanate of the Bamoun people with its rich historic museum and later the craft village. Drive to Bamenda via Koutaba and Bafoussam. Visit some road attractions such as the Foumbot foodstuff periodic market that
Day 12: BAMENDA – DSCHANG – MELONG
After breakfast, drive to Dschang, visit the town before driving down the “falaise” to Melong. Visit the Ekom waterfalls. Overnight at Villa Luciole in Melong.
Day 13: MELONG – BUEA – LIMBE
Early morning drive to Buea with many stop overs along the way to visit some attractions such as the banana plantations of Njombe, the rubber and the CDC rubber and oil palm plantations. Buea is the former capital of Cameroon during German colonisation. Short city tour of Buea before driving down to Limbe for overnight.
Day 14: LIMBE-KRIBI
Visit the lava flow that resulted during the March 1999 eruption of Mount Cameroon and the Limbe wildlife centre before. Take off to Kribi via Douala. Kribi is the best seaside resort town of Cameroon. Evening relaxation on the fine sand beaches near a sea blast hotel and overnight.
Day 15: KRIBI
Visit the Lobe waterfalls and take a boat ride on the Lobe river to visit a pygmy village. Free day relaxation along the beach and overnight.
Day 16: KRIBI-YAOUNDE
Breakfast and then take-off for Yaoundé. Arrival and then lunch at a local restaurant. Trip evaluation and drive to the Nsimalen International Airport for evening flight to the Hexagon. END OF TOUR
